“Julie & Julia” comes to Cissi’s Market

If you haven’t yet been to Cissi’s Market (1400 South Congress), the little oasis of gourmet food and vino in Soco, let me give you a fun excuse.

Tonight, Cissi’s premieres “Julie & Julia,” the foodie film headed to theaters Aug. 7th. Directed by Nora Ephron (of “When Harry Met Sally, “Sleepless in Seattle” and “You’ve Got Mail”), the film stars Meryl Streep and Amy Adams.  It’s the true story of Austin native Julie Powell who blogged her way thru all 524 recipies in Julia Child’s Mastering the Art of French Cooking. 

Pedal-worthy: Jo’s Downtown

Aside from being completely adorable, Jo’s Downtown is the kind of place you want to ride your cruiser bike to, park yourself outside and linger awhile. Don’t get too comfy though; they’ll kick you out at the wee hour of 9:00 when they close the doors for the night. So plan your visit accordingly because despite it’s early bedtime, it’s not to miss.

Weekends in Austin = Awesome

Ah, the weekend. Probably the best invention ever. I am still of the opinion that we should just go ahead and annex Mondays–it seems only right.

One of the many things I love about Austin: there is always something new, fun and interesting going on to help us fill our hard-earned free time–and this weekend is no exception.
